On a Friday morning in January, 2007. Page and I gathered at Dave Storrs studio, Califas, at about 10 am. A few mics were set, and we strapped on headphones and played. As Dave Storrs says in the 2nd track, “Who’s Doing That?” became the theme of the session, sounds were flying around in the headphones, and often it was hard to tell who was actually making what sound.

I was playing with a looping setup I had created using Ableton Live and a handful of VST plug-ins, it was not particularly stable, but somewhat miraculously made it through this session without crashing, and this is the only time I ever recorded with it.

Alice Coltrane had just passed the week before, and her spirit was on our minds that morning, explicitly on track 9, implicitly on everything else.

The next thing we knew, it was noon, and there was over an hour of material on tape. What you hear is what we recorded that day, in the order it was played, with minimal edits and no overdubs.
